The video label Air Control has posted a new 北村 ひとみ Hitomi Kitamura video in it's future releases section, debuting June 25, 2007. This is the second Hitomi release on Air Control, the company that gave us 二十歳の瞳 "Hatachi no Hitomi", which the torrent community defines as "Twenty Year-Old Eyes." Titled つぶらなひとみ, "Tsubura na Hitomi," it shows again that her tricky handlers are certainly fond of homographs, words that are spelled the same but have different meanings. I had to search "tsubura" to piece together a definition.
The Kanji form of "tsubura" is 円, which you may recognize as the symbol for "yen", the basic Japanese unit of currency, but it has other meanings as well. It turns out that "tsubura" is mainly a pronunciation for names, but the intent here is the multiple layers of meaning. Most basically, it means "circle". Shades of meaning include "whole" and "complete". I think Hitomi's handlers mean to say "The Complete Hitomi" and "Money Hitomi", neatly defying an easy English translation. I think they also allude to her perfect round hips. This, er, "inscrutability" is one of the reasons I love the Japanese, who I now call my people.
"Hatachi no Hitomi" contains the most revealing scenes Hitomi-chan has ever released, including what I am confident are the first tiniest glimpses of her Awesomes, her glorious nipples. From 23:22 to 27:28 is the superb "overalls" scene, several times during which her Lovlies are clearly visible. At about 25:56, 26:11, and 26:17 to 26:19, we see her thick and yummy nipples. I cannot conceive of a more perfect looking woman than Hitomi Kitamura. Except for maybe Kaori Ohara. Oh God, it hurts.
Somebody out there actually put out one of Hitomi's older videos, "Melon Chan!", as a torrent, so I am downloading that now.

Yuna's Latest
It's no secret that far too many Westerners are overweight, an inevitable consequence of affluent societies, it seems. The Japanese are growing too, taller, bigger, and unfortunately for some, fatter. Years ago, truly busty women were relatively rare in east Asia; not anymore. Every passing year brings us bigger and bolder "bomber" girls, as the Js sometimes call big breasted AV idols.
かわせゆな Yuna Kawase, one of the biggest and boldest, comes back with 満乳 Mannyu, "Full Breasts." It's exciting stuff, but rather frustrating at the same time. The cover of the DVD tells the whole story of what Yuna offers: big curves and rather amateurish. And what boobs .... Yuna-chan was blessed with the proverbial Guns of Navarone. With vital statistics of B:41 W:23 H:34 at 4'11" tall, Yuna is the classic short and fully-loaded package. She also fits one of the most popular fetish categories in Japan, ロリタ Lolita, a.k.a. Loli, the child-woman.
"Full Breasts" presents it's subject in the now-familiar Yuna style, i.e., let it all hang out, artlessly. Yuna was blessed physically, but was ripped-off in the charisma department. There's just no magic in her eyes, no heart-melt in her smile. While she is clearly very comfortable being (almost) nude in front of people and on camera, she comes off more like someone at a nudist camp than a gravure idol goddess. And there's the rub (ha!); almost nude.
As I've noted previously, Yuna's handlers present her completely naked except the concealed tips of her nipples and the crease of her snatch, and the effect is kind of ridiculous. To be fair, this style seems to be in vogue right now in Idol Gravure, and I can't tell you why the J's like it. Some say that many Japanese men find little peaks at the goodies to be sexier than full nudity. For me, I like the tease as much as the next guy, but I want delivery of the goods in the end, and the extreme giri-giri girls never finally deliver.
And why do they have to cover her nipples so childishly? Smilely stickers, tufts of fake fur, bunches of fake fruit. Maybe the producers are just trying to be creative, or even self-deprecating, but the effect is juvenile. Compare this to the supreme confidence and strength of 小田有纱 Arisa Oda, and it's almost embarrasing. Or try the hypnotic command of 北村ひとみ Hitomi Kitamura or 夏目理緒 Rio Natsume; there's the difference of the great ones.
Don't get me wrong, I like Yuna very much, and I recommend this video. They find more ways to push, bounce and squish her lovelies than any monk could ignore. And she really has a cute rear too. And ... this video feels like the last stuff 青木りん Rin Aoki did before she suddenly made the jump to full AV.

What's the point of gravure?
The Japanese are the way they are due to a combination of heritage and circumstances, as probably we all are. For Japan, their strength has always been the ability to recognize what is already good from foreign sources and perfect it, effectively making it their own. Examples include the 刀 katana, the samurai sword learned from China; 禅 "zen", Zen Buddhism, also from China and maybe Korea; and 車 "kuruma", the automobile, learned from America et al. They also learned the glamour business from the West, through the filter of the uniquely obtuse morality imposed by the post WW II Occupation. Concerning what is very broadly called 水商売 mizu shobai, "water trade", this is the Japanese world of nightlife and sex business, which by long extension includes gravure. To greatly simplify it, Japanese AV is censored partly because the Occupation imposed that on them, but maybe more so because that's the way they want it.

As anticipated, it is seriously giri giri, but could have been so much more. The successful part includes Hitomi-chan's always amazing charisma, skillfully captured by directors who recognize her "charm points", as the Js call one's physical attributes and personal appeal. The unfortunate part includes a failure to build on what has set Hitomi apart so far, that is, bouncing her awesome breasts. NOBODY bounces 'em like Hitomi-chan.
Don't get me wrong, this is better than the last release, "Nittlegenic 2006 Graduation - Memories" (they wrote it in English), which looked and felt more like a debut video than the fourth or fifth release of a major gravure star. But at least "Graduation" had a breif nod to bouncing, which Hitomi-chan made immortal in her 2006 video, ゆれる想い Yureru Omoi, what the torrent community translates as "Breasts of Love". Several scenes in the past, there was the hintiest hint of a nipple, but in "Soft Hitomi" they tease the heck out of us by showing the first incontrovertable edge of her Awesomes, the darkness of her areola clearly visible for the briefest glimpse. Overall, it is a great idol video.
However ......... For reasons I cannot guess at, most of the biggest gravure girls NEVER allow any more than the faintest whisper of a hintiest hint of their nipples to show, no matter how much boob flesh they otherwise show readily. An extreme, absurd example is かわせゆな Yuna Kawase, who is a gorgeous, voluptuous girl. Her handlers make her cover only the tips of her nipples and the crease of her snatch (which to be accurate, the Occupation prohibition against dipicting genitals would ban anyway). Otherwise, she is completely nude.
Enter 岡田真由香 Yuraka Okuda, whose bustline clocks in at 43 inches. Her newly released video, ニプル パラダイス ”Nipple Paradise" boldly displays Yuraka's concealed BIG nipples, high beams through tee shirts, bikinis and sweaters. Despite some ham-handed framings, her perfect ass, flat in the classic Japanese way, is feature prominently, demanding to be seen and recognized. Nipping-out is an audacious display in gravure.
